What is Women's Discovery Journaling?

You may have been wondering, "What is Discovery Journaling anyway? Will I be doing anything besides journaling? Why for 5 weeks? Why is it called a "mini retreat?"

The Women's Discovery Journaling mini retreat will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:00pm thru October 5 at 8:00pm, at Persimmons Studio in Manitowoc. Click here to register.

The first hour of your mini retreat will be spent discussing the book Something More: Excavating Your Authentic Self by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I first read this book 10 years ago and loved it! I read it for a second time last year and knew I somehow wanted to share it. When I decided to offer a women's journaling group, I knew that this book had to be an integral part of it. Ban Breathnach writes, "This is a book meant to be read, absorbed, and then mulled over until it begins to make sense with your own authentic interpretation. There's a lot to think about...a lot to ponder in our heart's."

We will discuss the material from a few chapters (the chapters are short) each week. You will not be put on the spot to share anything other than what you choose to share. If you want to just listen, that is your prerogative. The second hour will be spent in journaling. Kim Geiser, Artist and Creative Consultant, will guide the group through the journaling process. The book also offers some wonderful, introspective suggestions at the end of each chapter that will stimulate and inspire. No artistic background required! During the journaling process, you will have the opportunity to listen to soothing music in a comforting, relaxing artist's studio space.

Since many women are in need of some "just for me" time and cannot for one reason or another attend an extended retreat, we are offering a 5 week series of mini retreats. We hope you will join us. You are so worth it!
